25 Years Later and He's a Songwriter

I was at my 25^th class reunion recently when I found out that one of the guy’s I graduated with is now a prominent songwriter. He was always a dreamer in school and wrote some of the most beautiful poetry, but I never thought that he would turn it into a songwriting career. It was wonderful to see him after all these years and even though so much time had passed, it was as though not one day had passed between us. We immediately started talking and he told me all about his career as a songwriter and when he mentioned some of the titles, I couldn’t believe some of the people he’d written for. He even told me that he’d taken some of his songs and sold them on the Internet. I was so proud of him and to hear about his life as a songwriter and all the adventures it has brought him. He is very blessed and it was fun to hear about the last 25 years, plus to find out that he’d had a crush on me in high school, something I’d never known.

My girlfriend was classically trained to play the piano as a kid. Like anything else though, if you don’t do it you lose it. She stopped for many years and now is getting back into it. Her parents live nearby and have a piano in their front room that she has started to use again. What started all of this was a simple sheet music buy online. One day she said that she wanted to start playing the piano again. This is a beautiful instrument that I love hearing. I never learned to play so I suggested we get online to find some sheet music she’d enjoy learning to play. A quick trip to a favorite retailer and mission accomplished.

She started practicing and can now play a few new music songs near perfectly. I like just going over there and sitting on the piano bench with her to watch. It is amazing how fast the fingers can move to the perfect position with practice. Her mom is really happy as well. I’m sure because they spent money on her lessons back in the day.

After taking a trip to New Orleans recently, I became an even bigger fan of Jazz music than I already was. The music songs that I would hear coming out of some of the Jazz bars in the city was both warm and inviting. I literally spent one day going from one place to another, listening to the music songs of all the musicians. I met a few who were extremely nice, and I came home several CD’s richer. A few days ago, I remembered that I had the MP3 player that my husband had ordered me online a while back when he saw it for a good price and decided that it would be great to carry that Jazz experience with me everywhere by putting the music songs on the MP3 jukebox. I wasn’t real sure how the process worked, but it didn’t take me long to have the music from all the CD’s on the MP3 player. Now when I work out in the mornings, I’ve got Jazz and the Blues playing in my ears. If I close my eyes, I’m almost back in New Orleans, if only for a moment.

She Requested a MP3 Jukebox for School

A few days ago my daughter asked if it would be possible for her to have a MP3 jukebox to take with her to college in about a month. I have been in the process of ordering her things here and there online when I see something that I think she’d like to have, but I never considered an MP3 jukebox as one of the things she’d want. I told her that we’d have to see, since I wasn’t familiar with them and wasn’t sure how much they would cost. My husband and I have spent so much on getting her ready for college already, that if it weren’t for shopping online I wouldn’t have been able to get nearly as much stuff. The savings is such that I’ve probably came close to getting twice as much online than I would have been able to get at the mall. I will check online in the next day or so to see what the prices are on the MP3 jukebox, but I figure that I’ll probably order it for Caitlin. I can’t imagine not getting the MP3 jukebox for her, since it’s her first year at school and I want her to have all the best of everything.

The most recent trend in music is mashing up already classics into something new and fresh. This is great because it gives those skilled with electronic musical instruments and programs a chance to get their work heard. Blogs and forums have the best range of new music.

After buying a new receiver online, my surround speakers really hit the highest highs and lowest lows. The speakers could be better but I’m not complaining. Until I live in a house, there is no need for big volume audio electronics because of neighbors. Bass I can feel, my roommate can’t works perfect for apartment settings.

There are some tried and true staples to the web that will always prevail for me when it comes to the music songs that I love to listen to and enjoy each and every single day. I am not sure how I would ever work if I did not have my favorite music songs on my headphones providing me with a cacophony of musical bliss that tickles my ears and my mind—and really makes my work day seemingly fly by! Another great thing about the music songs that I love to listen to is that getting my MP3 player loaded with them is really easy to do these days, all thanks to online shopping, of course. There is just a plethora of really great online sites that offer music songs downloads for truly amazing bargains. For me this equates to being able to have a loaded MP3 player that is always cranking out my favorite tunes, while at the same time being able to purchase the music songs that I want, a track at a time, and enjoying only paying for the tracks I want to buy, while at the same time supporting my favorite bands or artists!

Sheet Music for the Upcoming Recital

Last night when I was helping my daughter search for sheet music online for a particular song that she wants to play in her upcoming recital, I couldn’t help but take the time to tell her how proud I was of her. I’ve never been able to play the piano, nor have I been very musically inclined, so when she needed the sheet music, I suggested that we sit down together and the computer and have a look. Since I’ve ordered sheet music in the past, I knew that the best and least expensive place to find it is online. Not only is the selection much better than the local music store, but we literally can get much more for our money by ordering online. I helped her find the sheet music that she needed, but she also ended up finding several other pieces that she thought she’d need in the future. She commented that we could get it another time, but I knew that while we were ordering we should order it all and save on shipping that way. Now, I can’t wait for it to arrive so I can hear her start practicing.

When my son and his friends stormed in the house yesterday afternoon to tell me that they were starting a jazz band; the first question out of my mouth was which musical instruments they planned on using. They started listing off who was going to play what, but I think they missed my point, so I decided to ask them again. I knew that none of them owned musical instruments, or at least my son didn’t and the ones they used at school belonged to the school and were locked up tightly when the school year ended.

I thought it was a great idea that they wanted to start a jazz band because they all show great musical potential, but then I asked them again where they were going to find musical instruments to play this summer and they said that was my job. I guess my son had told them all that if anyone could find musical instruments for a great price that it would be me, because I am always talking about the great bargains I find online. My son was right, and I was more than happy to help, so I told them to grab the laptop and we’d get started.

My brother is so poetic that at times I think he could be a songwriter. I’ve mentioned it to him many times over the course of the years, but he always blushes and doesn’t say much about it. He doesn’t know that I know, but he has a book filled with poetry and other things that he’s written, and when I have the opportunity, I sneak into his room and read them. He definitely has the talent of a songwriter, and when I’ve mentioned it to his girlfriend, she says the same. He often writes her stories or poetry, and once he did write a song that he hummed and sang to her.

I’ve even gone as far as sending him information on how to become a songwriter, but so far the words have fallen on deaf ears. Who knows, one of these days he may get the courage to try to do something with his talents and he could become a popular songwriter. As for now, I guess I’ll keep reading the lyrics behind his back and keep hoping that he’ll use his talent instead of keeping it a secret.

Using sheet music when scrap booking can be a lot of fun. I do my fair share of scrap booking and have used old sheet music as decorations when I make scrap pages. The sheet music can be a background or a border, giving a scrap page a wonderful look. I like to use it for pages that have something to do with music. For example, if the page is pictures of one of my children in a band concert or chorus performance. Or I will use a page of it for photographs that have to do with love if the song is a love song. Date nights with my husband for example are a great thing to make scrap pages from. The music sheets can be found very cheaply when it is older and the pages are worn. I just trim around them and make them look better and like new. Scrap booking is a great hobby and a person can get very creative with them by using music sheets and other cool backgrounds and borders.

In my line of work, I have to travel on a very regular basis. To pass the time, I have found an excellent source of creativity and inspiration. I have taken up an interesting hobby in songwriting whenever I have some time to kill in between meetings or while I am traveling.

I have actually made a pretty decent sized collection of lyrics, considering that I have never been musically inclined in the past. I love my new found talent of songwriting and I feel that I have enjoyed many positive benefits from continuing to write. Not only have I become a more creative person, but I have actually started to enjoy my work much more. Since I have started to like my job more, I have begun to succeed in my endeavors more easily.

Songwriting has changed my life so much, and for the better. I feel more fulfilled in everything that I do these days and even my family members and friends have noticed that I am a more happy person. I have truly found a hidden side of myself.

My Love For Sheet Music

I have spent the last ten years of my life collecting sheet music. I use music for everything from decorating my home, to entertaining guests. I love that wherever I am in my house, there is always something musical around me. My friends lovingly call my home the music box! Whenever I buy a gift for anyone, I always make sure that it can be recognized as something musical. Whenever I receive a gift from anyone, more times than not, I receive sheet music. It means so much to me that my friends and family members acknowledge how I feel about music and support me.

Imagine how pleased I was when my niece came to spend time with me last summer, and told me how much she adored all of my musically inspired belongings. I was so elated and I immediately took her out into the city to show her all of the sheet music, instrument and songwriters stores. I had always been close to me niece, but now we had really bonded over something special. It is amazing how music can bring people together and create a special bond.

My Kids Are Fascinated With Musical Instruments

My husband has always been in a band and our home has constantly been packed full of musical instruments. It was not surprising to me that our children, who were raised around so many different musical instruments, would be extremely comfortable and interested in them. As soon as our kids were able to play musical instruments, we let them pick out which ones they wanted to learn.

Our kids spend an hour each day learning their instruments with their father. Not only are they learning valuable information about the history of music and different instruments, but more importantly, they are getting special time in with their daddy. I love seeing the expression of pride on their faces when they run to show me something new that they learned on their instruments.

I am such a proud woman to be married to such a musically talented man, with two kids that are just as musically inclined. I could not imagine our lives without instruments anymore, and I hope that I will never have to. Music has made us who we are and we love it.

Striving To Be A Songwriter

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always displayed signs of having musical talent. Not only could all of my family members see it, but more than anything, I could feel it so strongly inside of myself. Every night before I went to bed, I would wish on the brightest star I could find in the sky, to one day be a musician. I wanted to reach people with my words and ideas and mostly, with my music. Being a songwriter was in my blood and in my destiny and I told myself that no matter what, I would pursue my dreams.

Now that many years have gone by, I am still as passionate about being a songwriter as ever. I have begun to go out to all of the open mic nights that I can find in my area, and I have been posting lyrics to my songwriters online journal. I will never let go of my dream to be a famous songwriter and I know that all of my friends and family members will stand behind me no matter what happens. I am so grateful that I have a goal to reach for, and a support system that will always be there.

I have been a nanny since I was legally old enough to work, and I have always enjoyed it. These days, I have several families that I work for and I really have become more of a family member to them. I have spent years taking great care of their kids and have learned much about myself in the process.

When I watch kids, I always try to avoid the normal babysitting habit of putting movies or television on for them the whole time the parents are gone. Instead, we spend our time making games, drawing and songwriting. Songwriting has been a serious past time between the children I watch and myself for as long as I have been a nanny.

At the end of each month, I have the kids put on a performance of their songwriting skills for the parents. Everyone always has a great time, and I know that the parents appreciate that I get the kids out from in front of the tv. I love helping kids get creative and I feel that songwriting is a great way to do so.

What’s On My MP3 Jukebox

Every single day at some point while working away on the computer, I take a second to browse favorite music blogs in search of the song of the day. At this point, Phantogram – When I’m Small is playing on the MP3 jukebox. This is an all ages indie, electronic song with a lot of soul. The melodic musical instruments set the tone in the background while a growing in popularity female sound covers the front. As the song hits its peak the beat increases a bit but for the most part it follows an easy to follow beat. It is not the most complicated in songwriting but the lyrics use nice prose to paint the tone of the track. I hope you enjoy. This will be the first of many posts featuring what I’m playing on the MP3 jukebox.

In blogs and indie circuits this sort of music is really taking off. For me, the unobtrusive opening instrumentals that follow into a soft female voice is very soothing. This is why I like this sort of song. It is not a new genre but a sound growing in popularity. Some of the female American Idol contestants are even going for it.

Learning Musical Instruments Keeps Brain Young

One of the most played musical instruments is the piano, and I have to confess trying to learn it many times and always stumbling over having to read two staffs at the same time. I grew up on the violin and then took up the cello, so my brain is stuck on reading one ledger of music at a time. I have found some piano lessons online that I might sign up for. I am so close to buying a keyboard online and if I think that the online approach will work, I'll order it today.

I honestly think playing musical instruments is one of the best ways to keep my brain young, and I'd love to know my way around a keyboard so I could play the songs I want to learn on the violin or the cello on the piano first to understand the melody. When I took lessons to master the string musical instruments I played, it was always a big help when my teacher would pick the melody out for me to learn to play them. Hearing a piece of music is so different than reading the sheet music, so maybe it would be a good investment of my time and money to learn the piano and broaden my enjoyment of music beyond the strings.

I've Tried My Hand At Songwriting

It takes talent to be a songwriter and I know this to be true because I have tried it. I was never a serious songwriter and I did not make any money from it. To be honest I penned the lyrics after I was given the melody. The songwriting I did was for a band I fronted for a short while in my early twenties. I found out that songwriting takes more than just talent, too. It also takes courage. The band I sang in comprised of four guys and me. After penning and performing the lyrics of the song I felt as though I had laid myself bare in front of these guys emotionally. The song was about a turbulent on again off again relationship I was in and the lyrics were somewhat angry. The band I was in played rock music and when we performed the song with the guitarist’s music and my lyrics apparently we sounded a bit like Skunk Anansie although to be honest I don’t think we were anywhere near as talented and my lyrics were not that good. Still I really enjoyed the process of songwriting and performing what I had written even though I was a mere amateur.

My Grandson Is Proving To Be Quite The Songwriter

My grandson, DeVon, has been playing in his high school band for the past three years. In fact, he is first chair on the sax. I was especially proud of his solo this year. Being his senior year, he has grown so much musically, and when he began songwriting, I was amazed.

I wrote poetry since I was in grade school, and I am a published poet. However, this is the only one of my bloodline who appears to be following somewhat in my footsteps. This is indeed a Grandmother's dream.

When DeVon started reading sheet music, I couldn't believe how quickly he developed that skill. Playing musical instruments is not an easy task, and when a young man does so successfully, it is the bonus of the year! We got him a mp3 jukebox for Christmas, and he has been moving forward ever since. The songwriting was something I never expected; but, he is doing a great job with it!

Graduation will be soon, and I am planning on getting him a Creative Ventures Music Digital Recording Microphone. With all his abilities coming to a head, he needs a ways and means to expedite that talent so we may truly see what he's got!

Songwriting Is My Creative Outlet!

Music has always been my passion. I have had a strong interest in many different styles and genres since I was a young child. As I got older I began to explore more and more varieties of music and became deeply involved in it.

There finally came a time where I wanted to transition from simply listening to music to writing music of my own. I wanted to experience songwriting as an art. It was not easy at first. It turns out songwriting was harder than I thought. I think that I believed that since I listened to so much music, songwriting would just come naturally to me. I was wrong. I really had to work at it.

I look back on those first songs that I wrote and always chuckle a little. My songs have come so far since those early days. I owe most of the progress so hard work alone. Writing has really given me an outlet for what I feel and allowed me to express myself in a really positive way. Songwriting is one of the most enjoyable things for me to do now.
